Gynecology
Most women will experience some degree of pelvic pain during their life. This may be a straightforward concern such as menstrual cramps, or it can be related to more complicated problems such as a ruptured ovarian cyst, endometriosis, pelvic infection, pregnancy complications such as miscarriage or and ectopic pregnancy, pelvic masses, or pelvic tumors.
We have urgent appointments daily that are open for acute concerns. We will do a careful and thorough workup, and we have in-office ultrasound, and there is a lab facility immediately available. CAT scans or MRIs are available through the hospitals in town.
We will work with you on pain management and obtaining an accurate diagnosis. In complex cases, sometimes a laparoscopy is indicated to find the exact cause of the pain. If surgery is needed, most problems can be solved laparoscopically or robotically. Prompt and thorough management is our goal.
The hormonal cascade is so complex it is hard to imagine that any lady ever has regular periods. There are a multiplicity of scenarios that can affect the “normal cycle”. Periods can be regular but extremely painful or crampy. Sometimes periods become very unpredictable and ladies can skip periods or bleed between. Some periods can be extremely heavy and prolonged.
Our team will do a very thorough workup to determine the cause of the menstrual concern, and then we will work diligently with you to solve these problems.
After the menopause, most ladies can relax knowing that they will no longer have menstrual bleeding. However, an abnormality such as polyps or overgrowth of the lining of the uterus can cause troublesome postmenopausal bleeding. A careful evaluation is necessary to rule out abnormalities that could lead to a cancer.
We have ultrasound and in-office equipment that can allow for a speedy diagnosis and resolution of the problem as well.
