Minimally Invasive Surgery At Advanced Gynecology

Minimally invasive surgery is a major part of our services. The vast majority of major gynecologic surgery can now be done laparoscopically or robotically. This means very small incisions, lower complication rates, major reduction in pain, and rapid recovery.

Major surgeries that in the past required a large abdominal incision and several days in the hospital with 6 week recovery can now be done as outpatient procedures. The patients usually go home the day of the surgery or after a brief overnight stay.

The time to get back to work means from several days for moderate cases to 2 to 3 weeks for major cases.

Incontinence surgery and pelvic reconstructive surgeries usually go home the day of the surgery or by the next morning.

Dr. Stringfellow and Dr. Dunham have now done thousands of these cases and they continually strive to make surgical procedures easier and safer for patients.

What To Expect

Before any procedure is performed we bring our patients in for a careful preoperative evaluation. During this visit, we are able to go over the procedures with our patients and make adjustments as necessary so that each procedure is correctly tailored to each patient. We discuss the procedure in full and make sure that our patients understand why surgery is indicated. Pros, cons, and alternatives are discussed as well as risks. Patients leave our office in full confidence knowing they have all their questions answered.
